A Culinary Eclipse: Solstice Brings Flavors Full Circle

Solstice was a restaurant just outside of Cleveland, Ohio. The owners needed a brand strategy for a restaurant group that was planned for expansion.

About The Project

This brand was all about eight restaurant workers who decided to team up and build their own foodie haven. They brought their love for food, years of experience, and a dream to life, creating a spot that’s all about good vibes and great eats. The brand tells their story—real, hardworking people who just want to share amazing meals with everyone. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a place made by food lovers, for food lovers, with a lot of heart behind it.

Problems

The problem is that with eight owners, each bringing their own ideas and style, the restaurant’s identity feels a little all over the place. Customers might not really get what makes the place special or why they should check it out instead of the other foodie spots around town. The story of eight passionate restaurant workers coming together is amazing, but it’s not being told clearly enough, so it kind of gets lost. The vibe might feel inconsistent, or the visuals and messaging might not connect with the right crowd. A rebrand would help bring everyone’s vision together and make the restaurant stand out in a way that feels true to the team and what they’ve built.

Challanges

The challenge with creating a brand for something like this is making it stand out while staying true to the founders’ story. With eight different people behind it, it’s tough to bring all their ideas and personalities together into one clear, consistent vibe. Plus, you don’t want it to feel like just another trendy “foodie” spot—you’ve got to keep that real, personal touch that makes it special. Finding the right balance between polished and down-to-earth takes some work, but that’s what makes it worth it.

Our Solutions

The solution would be to bring all eight owners’ ideas together into one clear, unified story that shows what makes the restaurant special. It would focus on their journey—eight passionate restaurant workers teaming up to create something built on love for food and community. The brand would highlight their personalities and teamwork, making it feel authentic and personal. Visually, it would be clean and welcoming but still have a lot of character to match their vibe. In the end, it would create a unique identity that stands out while staying true to who they are.The challenge with creating a brand for something like this is making it stand out while staying true to the founders’ story. Impact & Deliverables

The design that captured the essence of the sun and the vibe of Solstice perfectly. It was clean, bright, and flexible enough to work across multiple locations as the restaurant grows. The look tied everything together, from the signage to the menus, while still leaving room for each spot to feel unique. It gave the brand a strong, recognizable identity that could expand without losing its charm. In the end, it was all about creating something that could shine just as brightly wherever Solstice goes next.

Deliverables were the logo package and visual identity guide.

Project Results

The project resulted in a bold, sun-inspired brand that captured the energy of Solstice and worked perfectly for expansion. Each location kept its own unique vibe but still felt tied to the bigger picture, so everything stayed consistent and familiar for customers. The design worked across everything—signs, menus, merch, and online—and made the brand stand out. It also told a story of growth and possibility, setting Solstice up for whatever came next. In the end, it gave the restaurant a strong identity that could shine anywhere. Fun note - The sunrays are "Solstice" in Morse Code
