MeetDylan Roush
For a long time I designed the way most people do. Get the brief, open the software, start making something look good. The work was fine. It just didn't always fix the thing the client actually needed fixed, and I couldn't always tell you why.
How I Found Clarity
And My Mission
It all started when…
I couldn't explain what made a brand work. I could make things look sharp, but when a client asked why one direction was right and another wasn't, I was guessing. The look was there. The reasoning underneath it wasn't. That gap bothered me enough to go looking for what I was missing.

Everything changed when…
I started researching a brand before designing anything for it. Two people shifted how I saw the work, CJ Crawley and Alan Peters, whose thinking pushed me to study a brand first and design outside the easy stereotypes second. Once the research came first, the design stopped being decoration. It became the answer to a question I could actually name.
One of theturning pointswas
Glenn Engineering was the first time I ran the full process, heavy research and a real diagnostic before a single design decision. The site, the brochures, and the signage all came out of what the research told us, and the results were better across the business. Bounce rates dropped and the leads that came in were closer to the work they actually wanted. Tri-State Orthopaedics was the second, and the same thing held. The research pointed to what the brand needed, and the outcomes followed. That was the proof. The research wasn't slowing the work down. It was the reason the work landed.
Little did I know…
What I thought was a design problem was almost never a design problem. It was a clarity problem wearing a design costume. Once I could see that, I stopped selling logos and started selling the thing underneath them, a clear read on where a brand actually stands and what it needs next.
THEN, THINGS FINALLY CAME INTO FOCUS.…
Now every engagement starts with the diagnosis, not the design. I research first, find where the brand is actually breaking down, and build from what's real. The design still matters. It just comes after the thinking, which is the order that made everything work in the first place.
How I Found Clarity
And My Mission
My work as a brand strategist is for founders and leaders who know something in their brand is off but can't name where. I read the whole picture before touching the surface, so what gets built is right for a reason you can point to. That's the difference, and it's the reason people bring me in.
